Police nab wanted cult leader in Osun


Police Command, have apprehended one Adebayo Taoreed, said to be a kingpin of Aiye Cult and a suspected robber.

The suspect, it was learnt, was arrested along Osogbo/Ikirun Road after being on the police watch list for months.

Adebayo, popularly known as Small Rugged, was allegedly involved in several murder and robbery incidents around Osogbo, Osun State capital.

A police source said Adebayo and one Esubiyi, who had been arrested and charged to court alongside one other person, allegedly killed a man identified as Bode at Shadiat Area of Osogbo and went away with some of the victim’s valuables, including N4m cash.

The source also said Adebayo allegedly killed one Adedeji at Tinumola Estate, and shot one Ibidun Alaanu on Church Street Osogbo.

“Though Ibidun did not die, he lost his eyes to the attack,” the source added.

The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Folasade Odoro, confirmed Adebayo’s arrest.

She said, “Osun State Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that everyone involved in the criminal activities linked to the suspect in custody is arrested.”
