Zamfara: It’s a sad day for APC, party chairman confesses
Following the Supreme Court judgement which ruked against the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara, a National Vice Chairman of the party in the South-south, Hilliard Eta, has confessed that it was “a sad day for the APC.”
The Supreme Court earlier on Friday, in an unanimous judgement ruled that APC did not participate in the last general elections in Zamfara state because it failed to conduct a recognised primary elections.
The Court said the party that came second in the election of governor, Senate, House of Reps and state House of Assembly automatically emerged winners.
But reacting through a phone call, the party National Vice Chairman described the situation as a sad moment for the APC.
“Its a sad day for every member of the APC. Its a very sad day for us,” he said
On whether lack of internal democracy responsible for the lost, he said: “for me, I am a democrat. The issue of internal democracy is a serious problem in our country but it is work in progress. We have made a lot of stride in the party
On whether the party mismanaged the crises in Zamfara, he said: “I don’t think that the party mismanaged the crises in our Zamfara state chapter. We don’t have any option than to accept the judgement of the supreme court and go ahead and learn some lessons from it. That is what I can say for now.”
