Democracy day celebrations- Oyetola advocates collective efforts to end insecurity.


Governor state of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola has stressed the need for collective efforts to combat the menace of insecurity confronting the country.


Governor Oyetola stated this on Wednesday at an event held at Aurora event center ring road Osogbo to commemorate  June 12 as democracy day.

Mr Oyetola who was represented by his Deputy Mr Benedict Alabi said his administration is proactive on measures to sustain
existing peace in the state of Osun.

 Governor  Oyetola lauded the organisers as he maintained that the topic for discussion at the programme which centered on insecurity was apt in view of the challenging nature of insecurity confronting the nation.

Governor Oyetola who noted with concern the level of insecurity in parts of Nigeria agreed that the current situation required collective efforts by the stakeholders on the way out of the problem.

He highlighted steps being taken by his administration to deal with the menace adding that  social security measures with emphasy on youths
would go a long way in mitigating the problem.

While stating that his administration is looking at potentials abound in the state, he maintained that agriculture is being accorded priority in a way to elicit youths interest in farming.

In attendance at the maiden edition of June 12 as celebrated in the state of Osun after its official recognition by the federal government were the speaker of the state Assembly Hon Timothy Owoeye represented by his Deputy Hon. Femi Popoola in company of the majority leader Hon. Maruf Olanrewaju , Secretary to the state government Prince Wole Oyebamiji, the Chief of staff Dr Charles Akinola and the head of service Dr Olowogboyega Oyebade.

Also at the programme were the royal fathers as well as the commissioner of police Mrs Abiodun Ige who was represented, civil society organisations, market men and women, youths and  students from different tertiary institutions.
