LIFE BIOGRAPHY OF LATE CHIEF BOLA IGE.

   Late Chief James Ajibola Idowu Ige, a prominent Lawyer and Political Icon was born in Esa-Oke in Osun State, Nigeria on the 13th of September 1930. He was taken to Kaduna in his tender age and at the age of 14 he left Kaduna and headed back to the western region for secular education. He attended "Ibadan Grammar School" in 1943-1948 and then moved to "University of Ibadan, after which he went to "University College London", where he graduated with a Law degree in1959. He was called to the Bar in London's Inner Temple in 1961.

   After he was called to the bar in 1961, Bola Ige established his own Law Chamber called "Bola Ige & Co" in 1961 and later he became  a Senior Advocate of Nigeria,SAN. Bola Ige spoke all 3 major Nigeria languages Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa fluently. He got married to Mrs Atinuke Ige and they had children.

BOLA IGE, HIS CARRIER AS A POLITICIAN.

   During the First Republic in Nigeria. Chief Bola Ige at the age of 31 was at the centre of Action Group crisis in 1963-1966. He was appointed commissioner for Agriculture in 1967-1970.
   Towards 1970s he joined the "Unity Party of Nigeria", and was elected the Governor of Oyo State from October 1979 - October 1983, he was a founder member of the influencial Yoruba pressure group "Afenifere".
   Chief Bola Ige was appointed Minister of Mines and Power in 1999-2000 and then Minister of Justice in 2000-2001.

BOLA IGE, HIS DEATH AND BURRIAL

   On the 23rd of December 2001, Chief Bola Ige was shot dead at his  residence in Ibadan due to political rampage, and he was burried in home town Esa-Oke, Osun State, Nigeria.
