Oyetola commends JAMB for safeguarding the nation's education.
Governor, state of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola has commended the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB for the policies put in place by its current leadership under Professor Ishaq Oloyede to ensure standard in the annual admission process and intakes of the tertiary institutions in the country.
This according to him apart from safeguarding the future of the country by ensuring that only the qualified candidates are getting admitted would also improve the product of higher institutions in the quality of graduates produce annually.
Governor Oyetola gave the commendation in Gbongan on Tuesday at the 2019 policy meeting on admissions to tertiary institutions in Nigeria organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB.
Mr Oyetola who spoke through his deputy Mr Benedict Alabi said the JAMB without compromising the standard has redefined the admission process through its dynamism, transparency and for ensuring quality delivery of human capacity to Nation building.
The Osun Governor aknowledged the collaboration between the board and the Government in a quest to give quality education to the youths to enable them compete favourably with their peers anywhere in the world.
Mr Oyetola particularly gave kudos to the body for coming up with the annual policy meeting with the heads of tertiary institutions in the country as a way of achieving a crisis free admission process in the thick of admission complexity and challenges occasioned by the huge population of candidates and technology challenges and cut throats competition among the institutions and candidates.
He however urged the meeting to ensure that decisions taken by them are in the overall interest of the nation bearing in mind the capacity requirements in this competitive world.
Governor Oyetola said"the best way for a nation to jeopardize her future is to compromise the education of her youths.
As a gatekeeper and quality assurer for tertiary admissions, JAMB has been a good ally of Governments across the country in their quest to give quality education to the youths to enable them compete with their counterparts anywhere in the world", he said.
He also advised that efforts must continue to be made for suitable qualified candidates should be admitted in tertiary institutions as contains in section(1)(1-3) of JAMB which mandate suitably qualified candidates in to tertiary institutions after taken in to account.
Governor Oyetola also appealed to JAMB to grant consensus for people with disabilities, to encourage them and to deliver educational opportunities.
In attendance at the meeting were the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, the Chairman Governing Board , Dr. Emmanuel A. Ndukwe, Arc. Sunny Ochono, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and others.
