Oyetola commends Osun CAN for promoting spirit of love among christians.
Governor, State of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola has commended the leadership of the state chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (OS-CAN) for promoting the spirit of love and togetherness among the Christians in the state.
He said this is a good testimony that Christianity remains as one sheep with one shepherd as ordained by Jesus Christ who is the head of the Church and christians as one body in him.
Governor Oyetola gave the commendation on Friday at the Osogbo City Stadium during the final match of a football competition organised to mark the Silver Jubilee celebration of Osun State Christian Association of Nigeria (OS-CAN).
The Governor who presented the trophy to the winners of the game remarked that Christianity is a community of faith and enjoined the adherent of Christian faith to always relate in love with one another as one body in Christ.
Governor Oyetola who was represented by his Deputy Mr Benedict Alabi described sports as a veritable instrument and platform to promote the spirit of unity and love among the people, gave kudos to the leadership of CAN in the state for organizing the football competition as a way of promoting love, unity and togetherness among the Christians.
He used the occasion to call for continued religious tolerance and harmonious relationship among the people especially among all the adherent of faiths in the state of Osun in the interest of peace and progress of the state.
He added" Christianity is a community of one sheep with one shepherd and we are one in Christ.
" We should use every opportunity to create love and promote the bond of togetherness.
" Love should always be manifested among us as a people and as christians.
" This is a very keenly contested competition and I commend both the winners and local Government participating teams for the spirit of sportsmanship displayed during the competition" Governor Oyetola said.
The final match of the football competition between the Ifelodun local government football team and Ejigbo local government football team ended with 5 goals to 4 against Ejigbo local government football team which was decided through a penalty shoot out after a one/ one draw at the end of the full regular time.
Ola-Oluwa local government football team came third with a 2-1 draw against Isokan local government football team during the third place match.
