Oriade LGA Chairman To Give Out Mechatronics Forms, Scholarships To Students

The Executive Chairman, Oriade Local Government of Osun State, Honourable Bunmi Obeisun has kick start a 'Special Education' programme for the youths and students of the council community.

The educational package which will see the council boss give out forms to students who are interested in pursuing a career in Mechatronics, at the Bola Ige Mechatronics Institute, Esa-Oke, is one of the many innovative programs of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Bunmi Obeisun.

The Special education programme organized for students who are indigenes of the local government, is part of efforts to support the educational development of youths in his local government.

According to a statement by his media aide, the council chairman said "We believe that the best anyone can ever give a child is qualitative education hence the emergence of this programme, we strongly believe that investing in these young students is for the betterment of our community, as a people and as a nation.

"The good thing about this Special Education programme is that, I will be paying for both their forms and tuition fees and as long as you're an indigene of the local council, you're qualified to visit the Local Government secretariat, along Iloko-Ijesa to obtain your forms free of charge.

"All we're trying to promote is meritocracy as against nepotism and favouritism, we strongly believe that you don't need to know anyone before you can benefit from government".

Continuing, Bunmi Obeisun added: "We started this scholarships for interested students, so we can prepare them adequately for the future. Let it also be known that the Bola Ige Mechatronics Institute situated within the premises of Esa-Oke College of Technology is one of Africa’s best mechatronics school, with none of its kind in Nigeria or sub-Saharan Africa for that matter.

"I am determined to help the local council develop maximally and to achieve this, there's going to be the introduction of a poverty alleviation programme for the people of Oriade Local Government, soon.

Recall over 30 Osun indigenes were sent to Germany for a 2-month intensive training in May of 2014 by the Rauf Aregbesola led administration in the state. Subsequently, the government of Osun in partnership with a foreign agency and support from the National Automotive Council established the multimillion naira mechatronics institute.

The institute's programmes covers every aspect of automobile technology which include the Powertrain engine (emission and ignition), and transmission, Body (immobilizer and intrusion controls, among others.
