Tragedy as 3 traders perish in Osun road accident
A bus carrying traders on Sunday night loss its track and plunged into Osun river at Okegada, Ede, Osun state.
Three persons died immediately in the accident. The bus was said to have carried foodstuffs with the traders.
It was gathered that the bus was coming from Saare in Kwara state and remain some minutes drive to get to its destination in Ede, when the incident occurred.
According to investigation, the driver of the bus has been rushed to an hospital in the town and still unconscious.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the three women were seating with the driver in front of the bus.
It was gathered that the brake of the bus failed and it tumbled until it plunged into the river.
Eyewitness stated that the accident happened around 11pm of Sunday, saying it took some time before the bus could be broken to rescue them.
"The load had fell on them. It took some time to offload the load from them. It was also difficult to break the bus to rescue them," eyewitness stated.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Oke Peter, said it is true that three traders died in the accident.
He said the driver of the bus escaped.
