Osun Cabinet Screening: PDP Lawmaker Recalls Previous Encounter With AKOL
The lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency in Osun House of Assembly, Adewumi Adeyemi-Irekandu, on Wednesday, October 2, narrated how Dr Olasiji Olamiju-AKOL was very compassionate to his sick 3 years old son years back.
Speaking during the screening exercise inside the hallowed chamber of the house, Irekandu said AKOL showed his 3 years old son kindness and care many years back and it is now time for him to show the whole State how generous and compassionate he is.
He described the All Progressives Congress (APC) Obokun/Oriade Federal constituency House of Representatives Candidate in the last general elections as a complete party loyalist and a true democrat, saying, “his life is all about service to humanity”.
He said: “Mr Speaker, permit me to use two illustrations to extol the virtue of this great man before us, Pharm. (Dr) Olasiji Olamiju who is a nominee from my own local government that I represent here in this house.
“First, I remember years back, even before I joined politics, – I brought my 3 years old son to your pharmacy. I asked to see the Pharmacist and you were pointed to me outside where you are cleaning the dust at the entrance into the hall. I never knew you and you asked me to come in and I explained my son’s ailment, you carried and embraced him compassionately, examined him very carefully while prescribing neccessary drugs. You did not stop at that, you took my son to the fridge and bought a drink for him. Mr Speaker, this means alot and it confirms that the nominee is generous, simple and humble.
He explained further, that the nominee contested for the House of Representatives seat but his boss, Honourable Wole Oke of the PDP was announced winner of the contest.
“Mr Speaker, it will interest you to know that, Dr Olamiju took Wole Oke to the tribunal, but he later withdrew the case. This means a lot. It shows he is a true democrat, a true APC loyalist, because I understand he was spoken with before the case withdrawal. His life is all about service to humanity and not about self. If he is not loyal to the party, he won’t have withdrawn from the tribunal.
“He is service oriented, Mr Speaker. Now, who else do we need in the health sector, if not someone that is compassionate, generous, simple, humble and a true democrat. I am very certain he’s going to do wonders in the state’s health sector.”
In his response, AKOL said he could not recollect the encounter but explained that he was only doing his job and everyone who know him can testify to that.
The speaker urged him to use his brilliance and wealth of knowledge to unite the party and improve the state.
