Oyetola advocates functional education as a catalyst for sustainable development


Governor, State of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola has said it is the resolve of his administration to use functional education as a catalyst for sustainable development.


Governor Oyetola disclosed this on Friday at the Maiden Convocation and conferment of first degrees and award of prizes of the Kings University, Odeomu.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Mr. Benedict Alabi charged all the stakeholders in education to continue to strive to premise education on best practices to the students in the interest of the nation and posterity.

According to him, education must be seen beyond awarding and obtaining certificates but as tool to create wealth and prosperity in the society.

Governor Oyetola said to make education functional and rewarding, students must be ready to combine attributes such as altitude and good character, creativity, honestly, hardwork, diligence and fear of God to be able to excel in their chosen careers in life.

He commended the proprietor of the King's University Odeomu  Senior Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo for founding the institution in the state to help government in its efforts to build champions and leaders of tommorow.

He said apart from contributing to the economy of the host community Odeomu and the state at large, the University will also expose the state to the world as an advocate of functional education for better future.

Mr Oyetola while congratulating the University on the maiden convocation charged the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the institution and the State by displaying character and competence wherever they are.

" It is the resolve of our administration to continue to use functional education as a tool for sustainable development and we are happy that King's University is our partner in this regard.

"I want to charge the University authorities to continue to strive to premise education on best practices to the students in the interest of the nation and posterity", Governor Oyetola added.
