Osun Economic and Investment Summit: What's in it for Women
The Osun economic and investment summit 2019 brought people together from all walks of life and more importantly, investors from different parts of the world to Osogbo, the state of Osun capital city, between November 19th and 21st, 2019. Its benefit to women in the state is of Paramount importance to the commissioner in the ministry of women, children and social affairs.
The primary essence of the summit is to showcase the state's investment opportunities to the investors and business angels, while assuring them that the state is ready for business in different sectors of the economy ranging from mining, tourism, infrastructure, manufacturing to Agriculture, with a favourable tax and environmental policies, that will facilitate economic growth and development. The development agenda of the government of Osun is about the people, fortunately the larger fraction of the population consists of women and children.
Women are the most important drivers of the commercial segment of the state economy, and their interest must be well protected. The ministry of women, children and social affairs with the support of Mr.Governor and relevant stakeholders shall ensure that women in the state are positioned to enjoy the patronage of companies, springing up in different parts of the state. Women shall be made to act as suppliers of raw materials, distributors of finished goods, marketers of company products etc. They shall be engaged as employees in these companies. Government shall ensure that Osun state has a policy governing women patronage in the businesses and allotment of employment quota to women.
The companies shall also serve as platforms to offer industrial training to our children. The overall effect these would have on the state can never be quantified, especially in terms of taking care of the welfare of the citizenry.
It's a thing of joy that the state of Osun is not just ready for the business of production and development, but also ready in the business of getting our women busy in productive economic ventures and ensuring their financial empowerment.
