Oyetola charges Local government authorities to redouble efforts on IGR for accelerated development.
Governor, State of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola has said that one of the many critical reasons for the creation of Local Council Development Areas across the State is to bring effective governance closer to the people for accelerated development of rural communities.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola disclosed this on Friday during the Official commissioning of the New Ola-Oluwa South East Local Council Development Area Secretariat Complex in Ilemowu.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Mr Benedict Alabi said his administration is poised to make life meaningful for the people especially the rural dwellers hence the need for the people to support the government in paying their taxes regularly.
Mr Oyetola described the local council areas which are the third tiers of government as veritable avenues for achieving a robust internally generated revenue for government.
He then charged the leadership and staff of all the local government areas in the state to strategise to generate more funds for the social economic development of the state.
According to the Governor, delivery of adequate, qualitative and equitable service is the ultimate goal of the development agenda of his administration adding that his government has continued to demonstrate this in all the sectors within the eleven months of the administration.
He used the occasion to highlight some of the achievements of his government within the last 11 months in the various sectors which include the renovation of 332 primary health centers with one per each ward across the state, provision of 20 armoured personnel carriers and another 20 new patrol vehicles with communication gadgets as well as renovation of public schools and provision of modern facilities at each Local government.
Governor Oyetola stated that part of the focus of his administration is to unlock the natural potential of the state to deliver prosperity to the people.
He stated further, "Ola-Oluwa South East LCDA is one of the early beneficiaries of the 332 primary health centers we have provided in each of the wards of the state. The Asamu primary health center in the LCDA was completed and commissioned last month.
" The greatest resource of the state is its people and their health is the greatest measure of its wealth. I enjoin you to complement government's gesture by making judicious use of the facility and taking your health seriously.
"We are working hard to unlock the natural potentials of the state to deliver prosperity to the people.
" We shall hold economic and investment summit next week to bring investors and business partners to the state. This is in addition to the memoranda of understanding we had earlier entered into with our business and development partners. All this are being done to create jobs for our teeming youths and business opportunities for our people in general.
" Very soon, we shall commence this LCDA's portion of the rehabilitation of rural roads to open up the villages and link up our farmers to the markets to improve their productivity" Governor Oyetola stated.
