Take a leap of faith, Ogunbiyi urges Nigerians in new year message ~ Nationnewslead

A chieftain of the People's Democratic Party in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi has urged Nigerians to close their eyes to old ends, be optimistic and take a leap of faith in year 2020.

In a new year message personally signed by the party stalwart and forwarded to pressmen in Osogbo, the state capital, Tuesday, Ogunbiyi admonished Nigerians to restrain from over flagging their perceived failures and instead, learn from their personal experiences and make the best of the new year.

"Though there are a lot of anomalies in the land, it is still not an impossible task for Nigerians to make the best of the new year if we are really determined and see life through the eyes of a child as occasion demands."

"To see things through the viewpoint of a child is to approach life from a standpoint where nothing seems impossible, where fear does not exist, and where learning occurs largely effortlessly."

"Feeding one's faith, stamping out fear and learning to improve one's knowledge base has proven to be key instruments towards self-actualisation and greater accomplishments. So, since a new year allows us the chance to open up new opportunities, here is an appeal to Nigerians, especially, the good people of Osun to close their eyes to old ends and open their heart to new beginnings."

"While no one can rule out the dynamic nature of life, it is better by far to look forward in hope and give no room for apprehension. Be strong and courageous, for weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning." He said.

Also, saying that there are not too many things in life as important as good health, the chartered insurer tasked Nigerians to consider living a healthy lifestyle as one of the most significant things they need to resolve to achieve and sustain during the year.

"We must all try to live a healthy life. And, if you are religious, you should probably be aware of the part of the Scriptures which says that 'God loves a cheerful giver'. So, decide to give to the poor more often and kick away procrastination."

"To be selfless and genuinely committed to a common good of the people is not rocket science. From all indications, the people's governor, Engr Seyi Makinde is not an alien. His moves confirm series of research findings alluding to the fact that lack of will power is why Nigerians are unfortunately poor despite the fact that the nation is generously blessed.

"What is happening in Oyo State is not a magic but a byproduct of well thought out policies and monitored implementation efforts. If Oyo could thrive after all that the state had passed through and during the same telling moment that we are all into, then other states can thrive with good leadership too."

"Nigerians deserve the best and individuals efforts should be backed by government support for the greater good of the Nigerian state. Besides, we must also realise that not following all the rules is not a reason for alienation. People that think, act, and live differently are not a threat, which is something many tend to forget.

"Although it is easier to recognize and accept something familiar, getting to know whatever or whoever walks on a different path seems to be a modern demand, let alone a universal hidden key to change and evolution. We learn to tolerate each other and appreciate what is different. That is the beauty of democracy, no matter how slow the process appears."

"Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right. May the good times and treasures of the present become the golden memories of tomorrow for us all. Here is wishing Nigerian lots of love, joy and happiness in the New Year and beyond." Ogunbiyi stated further.
