Osun Govt. Disburses #30m To Families Of Deceased Civil Servants

Government of the state of Osun has disbursed #30m as death in service claims to another batch of the next-of-Kin of civil servants who died while in active service of the state government.

The disbursement which was made to about ten claimants is one out of the series of batches to be done by the state government in fulfillment of the terms of agreement of the contributory pension scheme.

The State Government has since the Commencement of the contributory pension scheme in the state, been paying annual premium on every civil servant as life assurance in an effort to fulfill the pension scheme agreement.

Speaking while distributing the cheques to the beneficiaries in her office on Friday, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs Adebimpe Ogunlumade on behalf of the state, commiserated with them on the loss of their loved ones, praying that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

She urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the money they have received is spent judiciously especially on the education of the children the departed souls have left behind.

She said, "We thank God that the government of Osun has been fulfilling her part of the agreement of the contributory pension scheme through the payment of an annual premium as life assurance scheme on every civil servant, that is why this is made possible today.

"On behalf of the state Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, I commiserate with you on your loss. It's actually a loss for the entire state and I pray that God should be with the children and other family members they have left behind.

"I plead with you to use the money you have just been given judiciously, you should use it for the education of the children and dependants they have left behind". Ogunlumade stated.

The beneficiaries who wouldn't want their names published were full of gratitude to the state government of Osun, saying the funds will go a long way in alleviating their financial challenges.

It will be recalled that the state government about a month ago made similar disbursement of over #20m to seven claimants of deceased civil servants in the state.
