Fedpoffa: Mass Communication Department Awards Best Students, Encourages Others On Academic Performance
By: Busy Brain
Department of Mass Communication, Federal Polytechnic Offa Kwara State has picked and awarded best students in both National Diploma ( ND) and Higher National Diploma ( HND) respectively. The award was presented to Anifowose Gbemisola from NDII and Mbwagwu Oluwatosin from HND II by Head of Department, Mr. Wole Alawode during the orientation programme organized for the newly admitted students.
While addressing new students, Mr. Alawode commended awardees and encouraged them to add more efforts. According to him: "You would be surprised to see a female student that fixed eye lashes and nails as best student. It shows her social lifestyle does not affect her academic affairs. This is a big challenge to others to be more serious. If a distinction is never your target, that is the beginning of failure and your position here in school determines what your tomorrow would look like. Mass Communication department is known for academic excellence in the history of Federal Polytechnic Offa and we will not relent in order to achieve more. Congratulations to the best students."
To emphasize on the need to achieve academic excellence, Mass Communication Department's Part Time coordinator, Mr. Solomon Adetunji enjoins students to take their studentship as priority and know who they associate with because some people are parasites that would destroy Grade Point and once the Grade Point ( GP) is destroyed, the future is at stake. Mr. Adetunji said, " To achieve success in academic pursuit, it requires God and effort and I only believe in two things: God and punctuality. So, take your studentship as priority because once your 'GP' is marred, your studentship is at stake. We are in the era of methods; not muscles."
Also speaking, the Mass Communication students' Adviser, Mr. Rotimi Adegboye admonishes students to fast track their registration process in order to concentrate on examination. He made it known that, examination date was extended in order to give students enough opportunity to prepare themselves. Similarly, the Examination Officer, Mr. Zakariyau Imran advised students to register their courses appropriately in order to avoid any problem and also charged them to always speak out whenever they have any problem concerning their academics before it gets out of hand.
" We can not know your problem without saying it out. Always feel free to discuss your academic related problems with Exam Officer or Students' Adviser so that it can be timely rectified. You are welcome to Mass Communication department. Study hard, pray fervently and shun examination malpractice. I pray to see you all at the top." Mr. Imran added.
