Great Ife Alumni Association members warned to disregard call for payment for fictitious Compendium.

The Worldwide President of the Great Ife Alumni Association, (Obafrmi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife), Engr. Wale Olaleye has warned members to outrightly disregard a notification letter circulating around, requesting them to pay for the publication of a Compendium.

This was contained in statement issued by the Association's National Publicity Secretary, Ajibola Falode on Friday.

The letter which was said to be sent to over 100 distinguished Alumni of the Institution requested them to pay the sum of N300,000 per page for five pages of the said Compendium, which summed to the total of N1.5million.

Engr Olaleye urged members of the Association to exercise caution,  maintaining that such proposal did not emanate from any Arm of the Association.

He also pleaded with members to assist in informing others saying "neither the University nor the Alumni Body is aware nor connected with the said project or publication and same was never authorized".

Olaleye however urged them to remain guided as they securely hold on to their profile,  the requested personal data and materials.

The statement reads: "Our attention has just been drawn to a Notification Letter that has been circulated/sent to many of our highly respected & very Distinguished Alumni around the World on the purported production of a Compendium for 100 Distinguished Alumni of our beloved University, thereby, requesting them to pay as much as =N=300K per Page for 5 Pages; i. e.#1.5Million/Alumnus.

"Please, let us all exercise caution and know that  such proposal did not emanate from any Arm of this noble Association.

"As  you are informed,   please assist in informing others , that neither the University nor the Alumni Body is aware nor connected with the said  Project/Publication & same was never authorized".
