National Sports Festival A Weapon For Building Character And Instilling Leadership Traits In Our Youths ~ Says Oyetola

Governor State of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola says it is the belief of his administration that through sports a lot can be achieved especially the unity and peace that every nation desires at all time.

Mr Oyetola disclosed this on Tuesday at the state Secretariat in Osogbo at the state reception of the Torch of Unity of the just posponed 20th National Sports Festival tagged, "Edo 2020".

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Mr Benedict Alabi hinted that to achieve the much needed peace and unity at these challenging period, the youths through sports development remain the tool in view of their strength and for being the future of the nation.

Mr Oyetola stated that it is for this reason that his administration has committed huge resources into sports development  in order to equip the youths and bring the best out of them for the unity and national development.

" The state of Osun will continue to provide an enabling environment, modern equipment and adequate resources for training her sportsmen and women to enhance their performance.
We shall pay more attention to schools sports in order to catch our athletes young.

" We have committed huge resources into sports development in the state, including appointment of more qualified coaches/trainers in the state sports Council, construction of a befitting sports stadium in the state of Osun, all these have given credence to the commitment of the state government to achieve excellence in sports and sporting competitions", Mr Oyetola said.

The Governor described the National Sports Festival Torch of Unity as symbolic owing to the significance of the games.

He added that receiving the torch of unity is an indication of his government's endorsement of the festival and a commitment to partake in it with all sense of responsibility and sportsmanship

While reiterating the commitment of his administration to sports development,  Mr Oyetola charged the state athletes who are going to represent Osun at the postponed National Sports games to be worthy ambassadors of the state.

" Sports to us at the state of Osun is beyond winning medals. It is a weapon for building character and instilling leadership traits in our youths who are our strength and our future", the Governor stated.
