Nigerian Students Parliament Partners Federal Ministry Of Education

...presents letter of Special Recognition to Minister (State) for his Administrative prowess

The leadership of the Nigerian Students Parliament (NSP) paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of State for Education Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba in his office in Abuja.


According to the Speaker of NSP Rt. Hon. Jabir Abubakar Bodinga the visit was to familiarize with the Honourable Minister and partner with the ministry to Foster educational advancement of our beloved country.

The Speaker of the students Parliament Rt. Hon. Jabir Abubakar Bodinga started by highlighting the achievements and contributions of the Honourable Minister to nation building right from his days at the green Chambers down to when he headed the Board of Trustees Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), which has now earned him a national recognition by the Students Parliament. He went further to highlight series of problems facing the Nigerian Students vis; lack of accomodation for teachers posted to remote communities, need for expansion of structures in schools where the capacity has increased and hike in Students tuition fees in many higher institutions amongst others as forwarded by members of the parliament across the country.

Rt. Hon Jabir however decried the absolute laziness of Students and their nonchalant attitude towards reading and reading habit. In furtherance, Jabir proposed a program tagged "FROM ARMS STRUGGLE TO PEN STRUGGLE, SAVE EDUCATION, SAVE THE NIGERIAN CHILD". He said the program shall be an aggressive campaign and engagement of "out of school" children so as to bring them back to the classroom as well as  provide educational materials for them.

In his acceptance speech, the Honourable Minister of State for Education Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba commended the leadership of the Nigerian Students Parliament as well as the entire 109 members of the Parliament for the wonderful initiative as well as commitment towards nation building. Hon. Nwajiuba went further to analyse the education system of Nigeria stating that everyone has a role to play to make it function effectively and he gives a 100% support to the Parliament and her programs.
