Osun Govt Cautions Council Chairmen Against Project Execution Without Approval
The Government of the State of Osun, has cautioned chairmen of local governments in the state against execution of projects without approval of the governor.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, stated this in Iragbiji, Iree and Ikirun while leading the management of the ministry on the on-going inspection tour to local government areas local council development areas in the State of Osun.
According to him, based on the instruction of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the era of executing projects at the whims and caprices of council Chairmen has gone.
Prince Adeleke disclosed further that, part of the documents that would be considered in granting the approval by the state is the resolutions of the parliament of the council in support of any project proposed for execution.
The Commissioner emphasized that before embarking on any project, it must be in line with the demands of the people and the approval of the parliament before it is forwarded the to state for final approval.
He said that the administration of Governor Oyetola believes so much the Osun Development Agenda which is people oriented and which every local government must key into.
The commissioner said that the government of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola is transparent in its financial dealings and ensures that local governments in the state have their allocations directly in line with the NFIU directive, saying that Governor Oyetola is one of the three governors recently commended for faithful implementation of the directive.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasaki Adeosun, dwelled on the need for both political functionaries and career officers to work together in harmony and with mutual respect for the benefit of all.
He said that both political office holders and bureaucrats have roles to play and they must be allowed to play those roles effectively as laid down in the law in the interest of people.
While reiterating the commitment of Governor Oyetola to the well being of workers, he said he has deployed his knowledge of financial management and skills to ensure that salaries of workers are fully paid as and at when due.
Hon. Adeosun described the governor as an intelligent but considerate leader whose sole aim is the overall development of the state and happiness of all and sundry.
Having spent two years in office, the Special Adviser urged the political office holders at the local government level to do a critical appraisal of their performance and use what remains of their tenure to make amends if the need arises.
On the team with the Honourable Commissioner and Honourable Special Adviser were the Coordinating Director, Mr. Ayobami Akinpelu and all directors in the ministry.
