Osun SA, Pharmacy Slammed For Inflating Price Of Sanitizer - Apagunpote Olayimika

Days after Osun State Government directed that there should be no large gathering in the state, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye who put on masks with no gloves handed over sanitizers to hundreds of people. The efforts of the speaker and other lawmakers of the house are deeply appreciated. Thank you.

While we thank the House of Assembly, the executive arm of the government who did not distribute sanitizers was also duly represented in act by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Pharmacist Olasiji Olamiju Akol as his pharmacy known as Akol Pharmacy is selling 1 litre of sanitizer at the rate of #6500. The people of Osun state also thank the Governor and his team of philanthropists and God-fearing persons. 

1 litre of sanitizer at the rate of #6500? I was not aware until a colleague forwarded a broadcast message to me that another pharmaceutical store is selling the exact product at the rate of #2800. People visited the pharmaceutical store to fact-check the price and unfortunately, a colleague who went there to buy sanitizers fact-check the price and confirmed it to be true.

Well, Pharmacist Olasiji, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health and the owner of the Pharmaceutical store has every rights to sell any item at any price he wishes. This is the same man heading the Coronavirus Team in the state. If he decides to add a profit of #3700 to 1 litre of hand sanitizer in the moment of grief and uncertainty, it is surely none of my business. 

The likes of Dangote, RCCG, Jim Ovia, UBA bank, Otedola and many others who donated and supported the government with funds probably do not know the real situation of things on this virus than Akol. A group of youngmen in Ijesa North who have started donating funds to buy sanitizers and nose covers for the people probably do not know the real situation of things than Akol, sadly both men are from Ijesa North. People who have started campaigning effortlessly to create awareness and educate the people and great residents who have started rolling out drums of support in their little ways to relieve the burden of the people probably do not know the real situation of things than Akol.

While other states find ways to make life easier for their citizens, if Osun State Government Coronavirus Team head Pharmacist Olasiji Olamiju Akol who is the SA on Public Health to the Governor and owner of Akol Pharmacy store decides to sell 1 litre of sanitizer at the rate of #6500 with a profit of #3700 when the actual price is #2800, the people of Osun State are also saying thank you to the state government.

Akol Pharmacy is the business. Honorable Akol is the SA on Public Health. This was the defence of his media aide. Then the people of Osun should enjoy the two.
