COVID-19: Honourable Minister Of Information, Please Tell Us The Truth - Busy Brain

 Busy Brain, From Zamfara State

Until we get the right people to handle the affairs of this country, that is when we can have the egress to many out of the woes betiding  the nation. The appointment of portfolio to the perceived allies and intimate ones is in no doubt ticking the  clock of Nigeria's progress backward. Of course, many out of those in the helm of affairs wallow in the murky water of ineptitude and quackery.

If am asked to scrap one among the ministerial portfolio in the present administration, like many other Nigerians,  I will not think twice to  pick you, the Honourable  Minister Of Information and Culture. Sir, you are one of those ministers who only earn  without effort. You were among  the federal cabinet from 2015 to 2019 and  you resurfaced again  in 2019. Since that 2015 till date, what  could be  tagged as your achievements are bundle of lies and propaganda in the media.

Sir,  you were among the staunch supporters of death by hanging punishment for social media offenders, a bill meant to instill  death punishment on anyone who spreads hate speech or fake news. Few months later, you came out to debunk your awareness of death by hanging punishment for hate speech mongers.  You denied this  during an interview session with Tim Sebastian of conflict zone on an international TV. Your controversial nature  could also be noticed when Finland Ambassador, Dr. Jyrki Pulkkimen visited Nigeria. You blatantly said, Nigeria is the safest place to live in the world. Can you imagine,  you that proclaimed your country is the safest in the world admitted the fact that,  Boko Harams are killing Christians. Your statement exposed the country to mockery because,  it's obvious,  the country is no longer at ease. Boko Haram members are killing and maiming,  causing carnage by incendiary, Fulani herdsmen have become more dreaded including bandits. Is it not funny when you told a foreigner who is more aware of the pervasive killings in your country that the so called country is the safest in the world? A safest country in the world shouldn't  have been recording mass burial intermittently. Why these lies Sir? Please, always tell the truth.

Another ignominy was displayed against the country on NTA channel during  the qualifier match  played in Akwa Ibom by Nigeria National Team against Benin Republic. The coverage was not only poor but embarrassing. A  National Television channel under you could not relay a football match clearly. After the NTA ineptitude, you came out again to tell Nigerians that with $500 million , you would turn NTA to CNN. I'm still laughing here in Zamfara Sir.

You said this when you appeared before the Senate Committee on local and foreign loans. The $500 million is part of the $30 billion loan the President is asking the National Assembly to approve. According to you, you said NTA can only achieve the feat when it is digitised as there is already manpower in place.

In your remarks, you said in 2014, Nigeria made $23 million from music alone and about $53 million in 2019 and the country is looking forward to making $83 million in 2025.
It could be recalled that The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2006 gave June 17, 2015, as deadline for all members of the organisation to migrate from analogue to digital but Nigeria could not meet up with the deadline along-side most countries in sub-Saharan Africa, the deadline was moved to 2017, which was not reliable and today,  the target is June 17, 2020. How would you meet the target through lies and propaganda Sir ?

Worse still,  Nigeria is seriously battling coronavirus, a deadliest disease touring round the world. Your office  is saddled with the responsibility of orientating Nigerians through National Orientation Agency under your watch. Till this moment, you are only in the  media telling us lies. Amidst lockdown and stay at home directive, no substantial achievement done as a contribution to national  development rather than lies and propaganda. Your interference in issues affecting Nigerians is going beyond mere lies but wickedness. Your recent comment saying there is no hunger in Nigeria because FG has disbursed billions of Naira  to Nigerians  is  a xerox of wickedness when many Nigerians are trying hard to eat three square meal at the moment.

At this juncture Sir,  I think you need to study hard to know what is expected of you as a minister  rather than feeding us with lies and unfounded propaganda about this administration. Covid-19 issue is no longer at ease. God,  come to our rescue, we are tired.
