Covid-19: FEDPOFFA Invents Auto Fumigation System, Donates Disinfectants, Liquid Soaps, Face Masks To Host Communities

The Federal Polytechnic Offa Kwara State has produced an automatic solar powered fumigation system and also, antiseptic disinfectants, liquid soaps, hand sanitizers and locally made face masks as part of her contribution and social responsibility to curtail the further spread of coronavirus marauding the country.

The fumigation system was invented by a lecturer in Science Technology department, Mr. Emmanuel Aduloju while the antiseptic disinfectants, liquid soaps, hand sanitizers and face masks were produced by students of the Polytechnic through Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC).

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji accompanied by other principal officers donated the preventive materials to Olofa of Offa, HRH, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye ll, Elerin of Erin, HRH Oba AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim Olusookun II, and Onipe of IPe, Oba Mufutau Adebayo Lawal Titiloye III at their palaces.










He also urged the royal fathers to up their sensitization activities among their subjects as it is imperative that everyone takes responsibility in fighting this virus.

Dr. Olatunji said, "Kabiesi, we have come as Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa to pay you homage for the holy month of Ramadan and also present our own locally made antiseptic disinfectants, hand sanitizers, liquid soaps and face masks to our royal father as part of our contribution to prevent the further spread of covid-19. One of our staff from Science Technology Department has also invented an automatic solar powered fumigation system that can be used to fumigate this entire palace premises in a jiffy. As a technical institution, we have come up with these initiatives to battle Covid-19 and we will produce more in short time so that the palace, market places and other public places in the community can be frequently fumigated at least bi-weekly until we overcome the deadly virus.”

The Olofa of Offa, HRH. Oba Mufutau Gbadmosi Esuwoye ll however commended the Polytechnic for the kind gesture and brilliant innovation that came at the right time and urged the management to produce more for the benefit of the masses. In his words, "I am very proud that The Federal Polytechnic Offa has invented something that is actually different from what others have been inventing. This is a laudable contribution from the institution", he said.

Similarly, the Elerin of Erinle, HRH Oba AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim, Olusookun ll thanked the Polytechnic Management for the items presented to his community to combat the spread of coronavirus in the community. He said, "Everyone must continue to abide by all preventive measures as stated by the government. I really appreciate Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa for this commendable project and I will urge you to keep up these efforts and give it a wider coverage. The Polytechnic has been peaceful under the leadership of Dr. Lateef Olatunji and that is also commendable. The institution should keep the legacy."

Also, Onipe of Ipee land, HRH Oba Mufutau Adebayo Lawal, Titiloye lll welcomed the rector and his team to the palace and applauded them for deeming it fit to reach the rural areas with preventive materials made in the institution.

While speaking with the fumigation system inventor, he said that the system is an automatic solar powered machine that converts solar energy into mechanical energy. Aduloju explained that, the solar energy is tapped from the sun and stored in the battery which enables it to spray the disinfectant automatically rather than the usual pumping method which is more stressful.
