Traditional Rulers Commend Fedpoffa, Applaud The Institution's Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC)
The traditional rulers in Offa and Oyun Local Government area of Kwara State have commended the Management of The Federal Polytechnic Offa and the institution’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre(EDC), headed by Dr. Kenneth Oghenekaro Unuafe, for production of antiseptic disinfectants, hand sanitizers, liquid soaps and face masks aimed at stemming the further spread of Covid-19 in their communities.
On the 1st and 2nd of May 2020, the management of the Federal led by Dr. Lateef Olatunji visited Olofa of Offa, HRH, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye ll, Elerin of Erinile, HRH, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim Olusookun ll, Onipe of Ipee, HRH, Oba Mufutau Adebayo Lawal Titiloye lll and Olojoku of Ojoku, HRH, Oba AbdulRazak Adegboyega Iyiolasemi ll in their palaces to present the preventive materials produced by students of the polytechnic under the supervision of the Centre's Director. And also showcase an Automatic Solar-Powered Disinfectant System made by a lecturer in the Polytechnic.
The royal fathers while receiving the items, commended the Polytechnic, said, “it is one of the leading technical institutions in the country.” They therefore charged the institution to produce more for the benefit of masses.
According to Olofa of Offa, HRH, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye ll, "This is a laudable project from the institution. I am very proud that The Federal Polytechnic Offa has invented something different from what others have been inventing and these items are commendable. It came at the right."
Similarly, the Elerin of Erinle, HRH Oba AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim, Olusookun ll thanked the Polytechnic Management for the items presented to his community to combat the spread of coronavirus while Onipe of Ipee, HRH, Oba Mufutau Lawal Titiloye lll applauded the management for deeming it fit to reach out to the community with preventive items made in the institution.
Also speaking, Olojoku of Ojoku, HRH, Oba AbdulRazak Adegboyega Afolabi Iyiolasemi ll, acknowledged the proactive efforts of the Polytechnic at stemming the spread of this virus touring the world. He said "It is imperative to extol the School management. We will continue to sensitize our people to ensure strict compliance of all the precautionary measures as analysed by the government in order to stay safe."
However, the Director of EDC, Dr. Unuafe said the face masks were produced from high quality fabrics, convenient to use and easy to wash which is different from fake masks in the market. He further assured the community of adequate support from the institution through entrepreneurial skills to combat the spread of Coronavirus till the war is over.
