WASSCE Announces Date For Examination – Education Ministry
Finalists in Senior High Schools will sit for their final exams on August 3 after six weeks of studies, says the Education Ministry.
As stated by the ministry, final year SHS students are to report to school on June 22, 2020, to prepare for their exit exams.
Briefing the media on details of the partly reopening of schools on Tuesday, Education Minister, Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, announced that exams will span across five weeks after the tuition period.
“They will be there for academic work and revision for six weeks, do their West Africa Examination Council, the Ghana exams that we understand will take five weeks,” said.
Dr. Opoku-Prempeh stated that the WAEC Ghana office has been consulted to set unique questions for various countries since others in the sub-region are tackling the pandemic and its effects differently.
The Minister also directed that there should be no assemblies, religious activities or any mass gatherings when the schools re-open.
Well for me it's good but that of tertiary we should all resume back ofcos we are old enough to take good proper of our self and go through the guidelines from d ncdc .. Soo I implore d FG to please let all tertiary resume bcos when all d final year finished who will be promoted to d next final year posts and for secondary School government can still announced doble promotion but can they do dat in tertiary....??

ReplyDeleteThe Head of Public Affairs at the Ghana Education Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, has revealed that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to be conducted by the Ghana office of West African Examination Council (WAEC), specifically for Ghana, will not affect the quality of the certificates.
The statement comes after the Minister for Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh gave further details with respect to the Presidents directive during a press conference.
He revealed that the ministry is in consultation with the Ghana office of WAEC, to set the papers specific to the country.
He said the finalists will study for 6 weeks before the commencement of the exams.
The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo directed that from Monday, 15th June, 2020, all schools and universities to re-open to allow for final year Junior High, Senior High and University students to resume classes ahead of the conduct of their respective exit examinations.
“Indeed, final year university students are to report to their universities on 15th June; final year senior high school (SHS 3) students, together with SHS 2 Gold Track students, on 22nd June; and final year junior high school (JHS 3) students on 29th June. JHS 3 classes will comprise a maximum of thirty (30) students; SHS classes a maximum of twenty-five (25) students; and University lectures will take place with half the class sizes,” The President said in his 10th COVID-19 update address last Sunday.
speaking on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi, Head of Public Affairs at the Ghana Education Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, said most countries are going through a similar situation and so the certificates from this exams will not be different from previous certificates.
Cassandra Twum Ampofo explained that virtual learning will continue for all other students until further notice.
