Osun Govt Warns Against Incessant Encroachment On Government Lands
The State of Osun Ministry of Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, will continue to redouble its efforts to curb the incessant encroachment on government lands in most of the Government Reserve Areas and government establishments across the state.
The dastard practices by members of public who are trespassing on government lands and are found of building without government approved plans have caused haphazard physical development and loss of revenue in recent time.
The State Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Nathaniel Agunbiade stated this while briefing the State Executive Committee on the activities of his Ministry and the way forward.
Hon. Nathaniel Agunbiade said that, reports from the field officers affirmed that people are putting up illegal structures around government school areas, local government premises and zonal offices and are even erecting structures on roads setback.
According to the Commissioner, these anomalies will be visited with strict sanctions and penalties, adding that the tasking assignment requires adequate funding.
Hon. Agunbiade then called for more funding for the Ministry, stressing that the Ministry of Lands should be treated differently with regular running cost as one of the most active agency in the area of IGR generation, urging Mr Governor out of his tight schedule, to increase the number of Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), which he could endorse in a week.
