Covid-19 And Beyond: Fedpoffa Holds Virtual International Conference On Entrepreneurship Education
The Entrepreneurship Development Centre ( EDC) in conjunction with Research and Development Unit of the Federal Polytechnic Offa have organised first virtual International Conference on Entrepreneurship Education.
The conference tilted Entrepreneurship Education, Technology and Sustainable Development: Covid-19 and Beyond had in attendance, entrepreneurship experts from Nigeria, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Pakistan and India.
The Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji in his opening address welcomed the participants to the conference and lauded the assiduous interest of the scholars across the world who have not allowed the raging effects of Covid-19 pandemic to dampen their spirit and determination towards academics. The Rector described the conference as one that happens at the appropriate time as the Federal Government is emphasizing on the importance of economic self reliance as one of the viable ingredients to getting out of Covid-19 induced economic threat.
According to him, " The 1st International Conference organised by Entrepreneurship Development Centre in collaboration with Research and Development Unit of our great Polytechnic is not only timely but also desirable as it obviously shows a clear demonstration of our commitment and a clear evidence of our dogged determination for academic excellence."
Speaking further, the Rector emphasized on the importance of the conference, adding that, it would enhance the efforts to be applied to get out of the impending economic recession as quickly than forecasted.
While the host who is also the Director of Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Dr. Keneth Unuafe Oghenekaro in his remarks commended the Management, Members of the Academic Board, Members of Academic Unions for their support and participation and categorically extolled Lead Presenter, Dr. Oluwarotimi Oladele for honoring the Polytechnic with intriguing presentation.
Dr. Kenneth said, " History is being made in the Federal Polytechnic Offa because this is the first International Conference to be held by the institution's Entrepreneurship Development Centre and this is the first virtual conference hosted by this great Polytechnic ever since the virtual conference became popular as a result of Covid-19 pandemic. As a matter of fact, we have close to ten international papers and more than twenty five local papers to be presented for the three days international conference. I here by thank the Rector and the Management team, Members of the Academic Board and Academic Unions for taking time to participate in the conference."
Also the Chairman, Conference Organizing Committee, Dr. S.A. Raji said the Entrepreneurship Development Centre in collaboration with the Research and Development Unit of the Federal Polytechnic Offa have provided a veritable platform for academics and researchers to present the result of their research and other studies at conference.
Dr. Raji stressed further that the pandemic has offered opportunities to entrepreneurs to study situation in the environment and look for opportunities to make fortunes.
Meanwhile the co-host, anchor and Director of Research and Development, Dr. S.A Muhammed commended the Management led by Dr. Lateef Olatunji for providing enabling environment and support to make the event a reality.
Other principal officers in attendance were: Deputy Rector Administration, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi, Deputy Rector Academics, Arc. Augustine Adama, The Registrar, Mr. Adetunji Oni and Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Rasaq Femi Quadri.
