Reject call for Oluwo’s Dethrone, Iwo chiefs tell Oyetola
Twenty Iwo chiefs under the aegis of the Iwo Traditional Chiefs, on Monday, asked the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, to reject the call by some kingmakers for the dethrone of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi.
The 20 Iwo chiefs made the call in a joint statement titled: ‘Rebuttal to petition written by concerned kingmakers of the Oluwo of Iwo’, and made available to our correspondent.
The statement described the call by the kingmakers as anti-people, baseless and uncalled for.
It read in part, “The rest traditional chiefs of Oluwo of Iwo hereby affirm that they disassociate themselves from the petition calling for the dethronement of the Oluwo of Iwo. Oluwo of Iwo should continue his leadership of the Iwo Traditional Council in earnest without removal, disturbance and continue to be on the throne of Oluwo of Iwo.”
The chiefs advised anybody who had personal grievances with Oluwo to go to court.
“The allegations raised in the petition of the concerned chiefs need interpretation by the honourable court. The petitioners cannot play dual roles of being the accusers/complainants and being judges in the same accusations and complaints at the same time,” the statement reads partly.
