Tinubu eventually talk on the Edo governorship election

The former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has spoken in the Edo State governorship election just concluded where the Governor Godwin Obaseki re-elected.
Godwin Obaseki, Saturday, sailed through a fierce opposition to secure his second mandate as the governor of Edo State.

Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 307,955 votes to defeat his main rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had 223,619 votes.

Obaseki won his first election in 2016 as a candidate of the APC, principally supported by Adams Oshiomhole, the immediate past governor and former National Chairman of the APC while Ize-Iyamu was then the candidate of the PDP.

However, Obaseki’s reelection victory on the PDP platform could be attributed, in part, to the role played by Bola Tinubu, many people believe.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos, who is revered as the national leader of the APC, released a recorded broadcast shortly before the election where he described Obaseki as a “dictator” and called on the people to reject him at the polls.

Our correspondent assemble that Tinubu’s remarks against Obaseki in the video played out very well in favour of the governor.

EdoNoBeLagos, an anti-Tinubu movement led by pro-Obaseki groups, became energised during the election because of the Tinubu video, as many voters interpreted Tinubu’s remarks as an indication that he wanted Edo to be a “subdued territory” under Lagos State,”. But after the election, Tinubu said that “we are mortals who suffer from setbacks, betrayals… But if our fellow men see us as gods and celebrate our defeats like they’ve defeated gods, then surely we must be close to being gods”.
As claimed by the one of the popular APC media teams, Zara Onyinye, who posted on her Facebook timeline, revealed what Asiwaju Tinubu said, that the APC should enjoy and take pleasure from our defeats as much as we take from our victories. Tinubu said “We should enjoy and take pleasure from our defeats as much as we take from our victories.

“The extent and length they go to see us down shows how great we are.

“Our defeats should be a lesson that we are not gods, that we are but men.

“That we are mortals who suffer from set backs, betrayals… But if our fellow men see us as gods and celebrate our defeats like they’ve defeated gods, then surely we must be close to being gods.

“They seek schadenfreude at our shrine but we only have to give, exactly what they hate us for”.
