AKOL Cautions Social Media Supporters
Candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC in the last general elections, Dr. Olasiji Olamiju - AKOL has dissociated himself from a social media group: 'For A Greater Osun', drumming support for him to be appointed as Commissioner for health.
The Pharmaceutical doctor, in a statement issued by his media aide, cautions his supporters on the social media to stop the campaign, as it is only God who appoints.
He also advised them to avoid offering their platforms for spread of false information.
The statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a campaign on the social media, purportedly sponsored by one Thompson Ibikunle, the President, 'For A Greater Osun', promoting Dr Olamiju to be nominated and supervise the Health ministry as Commissioner.
“This social media campaign which was obviously sponsored by AKOL's supporters was embarked upon without any consultation. I am therefore urging them to stop the campaigns and let the Governor and the party decide who is best to supervise the ministry. The allotment of portfolios is a prerogative of Mr Governor and our party, APC, is a party of orderliness."
“I will again wish to entirely dissociate Dr. Olasiji Olamiju from this campaign which is lacking in all attributes of reason and credibility. I will also like to advise all our supporters, social media groups, especially those that serve as credible sources of information for the public, to always spread credible informations, to avoid misleading their readers.”
