Light Up Osun ~ Gov. Oyetola


In order to make Osun more secure, the State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has given the ministry of works a marching order to revive street lights in the State capital and other major towns in the State.


Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji disclosed this while inspecting the lights.

Prince Oyebamiji explained that major streets such as Ola Iya to Ogo Oluwa, Ola Iya through Alekunwodo to Oke FIA, down to Dele Yes Sir areas have been lighted, while Old Garage to Machine Tools end of Ikirun road and the West bye pass would have been lit by the end of this week.

He appealled to citizens to besides regular payments of taxes, steer clear of destroying public property.

The Coordinating Director Ministry of Works Engineer Soji Adeniji said the government was moving from the traditional lamps to Lead lamps with longer life span less energy consumption and cheap maintenance costs.

The Supervisor for works Engineer Remi Omowaye added that the second phase of the Light Up Osun project will pick other towns thus covering the entire State.

He observed that in addition to beautifying the City at night the street lights will return night traders to their spots thus putting more lives into the streets at night.
