Stop destroying your party but be its image makers, Famodun tells aggrieved APC members
Now that the distraction over the Osun State governorship election is over with the landmark judgement of the Supreme Court in favour of the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola, a call has gone to all disenchanted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to forgive and forget any misgivings they might be having with the leadership of the party and permanently bury the hatchet.
The state Chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun, who spoke through his Media Consultant, Mr Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, on Thursday implored all the members of the party to cultivate the spirit of forgiveness as there is no way any human organisation can be run without either knowingly or unwittingly the leader ruffling some feathers.
Famodun explained that it is a failure of any leader to take a decision when one is required that risks the plight of not being forgiven and not the prompt taking of the one that may or may not benefit a person or a group of persons.
The state party chairman reminded the likely aggrieved APC members to be alive to the fact that any decision taken by any leader has both its casualties and beneficiaries.
He stated that the hallmark of a complete human being is to learn how to develop a thick skin each time a decision is not in his favour.
Famodun stressed that the most important thing is for any decision taken to be in the interest of the majority of any group of people making up an association.
He counselled any member of the party having an axe to grind with its leadership to consign the past to the dustbin of history in the overall interest of the party and the people of the state.
In his words: "For instance, it's not uncommon to hear some APC members talking down on our dear party for one reason or the other. I don't know what to call such attitude if it's not a clear case of anti-party.
"For God sake, any aggrieved members of our party should stop outrightly the act of talking down on the party. The noble thing expected from all of us is to turn to its image makers in the interest of the progressive ideal that binds us together", the party chairman said.
Famodun wondered what those members needlessly painting their political party black expected the opposition to address it when afterall, "it's the owner of the calabash that calls it a broken item".
The party chairman tasked all members of the APC to assist in whatever capacity they might be endowed with to facilitate the accomplishment of Governor Gboyega Oyetola's action plan.
"Whether inside or outside the government, we, politicians of APC extraction, no matter our grievances, hold it a duty to compliment and facilitate the continued provision of dividends of democracy by the administration of Governor Oyetola to the people of the state".
