Work as a team to develop Osun, Famodun charges council bosses, councillors

Willing to witness further rapid developmental governance at the grassroots level across Osun State, state chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state, Prince Gboyega Famodun, has tasked all local government council chairmen and the councillors statewide to work in unison.

Famodun in a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Mr Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo today said, it is important for the grassroots political functionaries to work in amity in discharging their statutory roles.

The state APC chairman stated that the purpose of running parliamentary system of government would be threatened if what is currently in vogue at some local government councils is needless showing of strength between the chairmen and the councillors.

He said, he was not very comfortable with some information he was gathering from some local government councils where inordinate ambition of some political functionaries have not been  encouraging desired developmental projects.

The state party chairman informed the local government chairmen that it is only when they provide developmental projects at the grassroots level of government in their various constituencies that they can collectively be an asset to the state government.

He told them not to be an harbinger of destruction of the purpose for which the parliamentary system of government was introduced at the local government level.

Famodun stated that the reports he wishes to be hearing from the political functionaries are how dividends of democracy are being extended to the people through their offices.

The state party chairman reminded the council chairmen and the councillors that now that the Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola as the authentic elected governor of the state, there is no excuse for all arms of the government not to be on deck for further accelerated development of the state.

In the words of Famodun: "Time and tide wait for no man. It is important for you all to make your political imprint on a solid rock because of posterity.

"It may not be profitable for you to invest your time on frivolities as your tenure is limited. Always have it in mind that it is your performance in the current office that will function as your testimonial when gunning for higher offices in future.

"Don't turn the party leaders and the youths who were instrumental to your political success into your enemies as the same path to the top and and down are not different", he counselled.
