Coronavirus outbreak: Osun govt calls for prayers to contain the virus, takes campaign to Gbongan

As the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread after the first case confirmed in Lagos, the Deputy Governor state of Osun Mr Benedict Alabi has called on Christians and non Christians in Osun to intensify prayers to contain the virus from spreading to the state.

Mr Alabi made the call during the first Sunday service in Lent held at the Cathedral of St. Paul Oke Osun Diocese of Anglican Communion, Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government Area of the State.

He said government would continue to take necessary measures to protect the people against any contagious diseases. He added that with proper care and prayers by the people of God, the recent coronavirus outbreak would be contained and prevented from spreading to Osun.

The Deputy Governor also encouraged the people of the state especially women to take advantage of the health insurance scheme introduced by the state government. He said this will give them unhindered access to health care.

He also sought for the cooperation and support of the people of God for the present administration to succeed assuring that all the needs of various communities in Osun would be met.

"The present administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola needs your support in prayers to succeed, when we pray for government, we are automatically praying for ourselves", Mr Alabi stressed.

The Deputy Governor later paid homage to the Olufi of Gbongan Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi in his palace.

He was accompanied by a member of the house of representatives, representing Irewole, Ayedaade and Isokan federal constituency Hon Taiwo Oluga, the D.G Ileri Oluwa Campaign Organization Hon. Ajibola Famurewa and some political office holders and party leaders from the federal constituency.

The Olufi of Gbongan in his remarks during the visit of Mr Alabi lauded Governor Gboyega Oyetola's administration for its good work despite the paucity of funds.
